Ms Tolima or self portrait????

Ms Tolima, originally uploaded by Roberta Warshaw.
I wasn't sure if I was going to finish this but as it turns out I am glad I did. I think she is interesting and at the very least I am getting better with my beadwork and my stitches. I like the way her central area came out. In the original it is just a circle. But to me it seemed like as many times as her heart has been broken there is always room for a new flower to take root there.

This is the original piece from a Pre-Columbian artifact:

Ms. Tolima is very cool! And your beading is beautiful. Workmanship is so critical isn't it. BTW, the background fabric on my Oct. BJP is the BACK of a piece of commercial fabric I dyed several years ago. Funky but worked! I didn't have an email to respond back to your comment. Thanks for stopping by.

Love the way the purple background sets off the gold iris of the figure! And the flower of her heart is very moving.

Roberta I think this is just wonderful...both versions. Unique and very expressive.
