Trying Something New

I thought I would try a new project in between my BJP project and other things. So I am trying my first bracelet.

I am not sure exactly where this is going. I had originally decided it would be in the blue family, hence the blue bead backing. But I changed my mind after I had glued down the metal clay pieces. So I am kind of stuck with the blue and it is more than a little distracting.

I may just stick to white bead backing and color in where I need color. Bead embroidery is still new to me so I haven’t yet settled into one clear picture of how things work yet.

I am still sick with a bad cold. But today I simply had to come to work anyway. I know, I know. We hate it when people come to work sick and now I am one of those people. But next week I will be out all week on my planned trip to Tucson. So I need to finish up projects here at work before I leave.

I cannot wait to get out to the desert. I hope it is warmer than it has been. I am so glad I decided not to go last week! I can’t imagine going there for warmth and being hit with record cold temperatures.

Saturday is supposed to be clear for flying so I have my fingers crossed that good weather will hold. And I hope and pray my cold is gone by the time I have to fly.

RoberMaybe you could spray or paint the background with walnut ink. That always works for me. The brown would knock back the blue and make it less distracting. It looks like it will bew a beautiful bracelet!

Sorry about your lovely name. You are not Rober? That is what happens when you type too fast.............

That is a great idea Sara! Why didn't I think of that? I have lots of colored markers too. They might work! Fantastic!

This is beautiful! Blue or no blue - its looking great. I hope your cold goes away before your Tucson trip and the cold weather follows right along with it!

That first stage is beautiful, Roberta! I envy your trip to Tucson: I would enjoy being there this time of year. One of my Blogging friends. Bo from Seeded Earth (it's in my blogroll) will also be there next week. She will have a photography booth at the Tubac Festival of the Arts. I hope you get over that cold before your trip!

Hope you get to feeling better soon and that your trip to Tucson is warm and wonderful!
Your bracelet is turning out lovely, can't wait to see it finished.

I've never used walnut ink (yes, great idea!) as Saraz mentioned but I've also used permanant marker with good results. I'm trying to recall if I sealed it in any way...(would be interested in any input you & Saraz may have on additional sealing of applied color via ink or maker).

Your bracelet is off to a beautiful start - looking foward to seeing it evolve.

Sorry to read you're still feeling under the weather - bummer. But better now than during Tucson as long as the cold/bug doesn't hamper flying.

Have a great trip (and soak up some 'warm' for me, lol)
