This Week.....

This week has been a very stressful one for me and my family.

My mom was doing well after the surgery. Then in rehab she caught a terrible stomach bug that was spreading like wildfire in there. In fact some of the units were in lock down mode due to the outbreak. It was very scary and we had to cancel the removal of her staples twice. They are still not out as the surgeon only performs the removal of the staples on certain days of the week.

We are hoping to be able to bring her home tomorrow. She is better now and is very antsy to go home.

In reality, she could have gone home last week before she came down with this illness but they wouldn't let her. It is my belief that these places, no matter how good they are all want the same thing. The money from Medicare.

Apparently Medicare doesn't pay by the individual but rather by the procedure. So if a specific procedure is covered for 2 weeks, then the patient stays for 2 weeks regardless of their condition.

No wonder we will go broke from Medicare with everyone gaming the system. Enough of that though. I don't want to upset myself anymore than I already am.

With all the appointment cancellations I was able to make some new beads, as seen above.

Me alegro de que tu madre esté mejorando, pero es una vergüenza como funciona el sistema sanitario. Las cuentas son muy bonitas. Besos

Stunning, as usual. Sorry to hear your mom is still going through a rough recovery. Hope she is home soon.

Gosh, I hope she didn't pick up C-Diff. It's very hard to shake. Your poor mom. (And consequently, "poor you." It must feel like all of this extra worry never ends.) I"m so impressed that you are able to find the energy to be creative and produce new beads.
Take care.

Roberta, I'm so sorry that your mom got sick after her surgery! I hope she can get those stitches out soon!

And once again, your work is beautiful -- I'm so glad you have a creative outlet. *Hugs.*

I'm glad that your Mom is doing well! Yes, Medicare does good things and is also commonly abused. A few years ago a doctor that I went to wanted to run every test that Medicare would pay for: I wouldn't let him.

I would totally wear these beads on a necklace. They have a cool Gothic quality to them.

I hope everything goes well for your mother. :)

I'm with Barb, C-diff is the first thing that came to my mind too. Hope it was something different. My mom caught it in the hospital. Hope your mom is doing much better now!

Meant to comment on the gorgeous beads too, but my mind got distracted. These are just wonderful! You have some of the finest quality, most creative looking polymer beads I've ever seen! So glad I came to take a look! --Sharyl
