Back From Vacation

I am back now from a lovely vacation in the Berkshires. The first week was so hot we could only be in or around the pool. Such problems right?

I had brought some embroidery thread with me and managed to work on a few pieces at once. I like this one the best. I used some SOVA bead backing that I had left over from some previous beading projects.

It works pretty well for embroidering. I then discovered that the wax Neocolor crayons by Caran D'Arche work well for coloring the background. I then used my water brush to move the color around as a wash. It at least gives a base to design around. I like it better than plain white.

It is good to be home. I always miss my art supplies and of course my grandson as always.

That's a beautiful piece, you are talented in so many mediums. Glad you had fun. The insect you asked about is a wasp.

Oh a wasp! Yikes. Ugly thing!

Thanks so much for your lovely comments about the embroidery.

I'm glad you had a fun time in the Berkshires! I'm especially glad you had a pool to help you deal with the heat.

Gorgeous embroidery! I love what you did with the foundation -- I like to paint mine with acrylic paints sometimes. Of course, now that I've started painting doll hair, most of my paint has run out. ;)

Also, what's SOVA?

Welcome back Roberta !
So glad you had an opportunity to do some work while vacationing ... so pretty !
I had always carted along some drawing material but hardly ever found time to use them.
Last year I went camping alone and for the first time in over 40 yrs, I hooked up to electricity, had my sewing machine and 2 small bins of 'stuff' ... it was the best vacation ever !

Welcome back from your vacation, it sounds like it was nice and relaxing. Beautiful artwork, I especially love how you stitched the red flowers and tendrils, they look cheerful. :)

I hope you enjoy the silk paper. I always miss my art supplies when I am on holiday, and usually can 't wait to get back.
