Well, it is Friday today and it has been a nice relaxing week now that school is over and I could be out and about without worrying about being home at a specific time. Next week camp begins. I will have early days since the pool hours change and I need to swim very early in order to get my swims in.
The bathroom is finally being remodeled so the bedroom is a bit of a disaster but it just encourages me to stay in my studio and work! Which is exactly what I have been doing. I even sold two of the paintings I made this week. A lovely reward for my work.....
I have been trying out different surfaces for my acrylic work besides paper. I like the Ampersand gesso board but I don't like the idea that the pieces have to be framed. I really like the cradled birch panels but those seem very pricey to me, so I decided to go back to my trusty old favorite, canvas! The above painting is done on canvas. Back when I first started painting I worked on canvas exclusively although I stretched my own. I don't have the space for that anymore so I am purchasing these lovely pre-stretched ones from Blick. I like the way the back is finished so that it is neat and tidy and doesn't show too many staples. I can paint the sides to match the piece and therefore the piece does not have to be framed. Framing can be a huge expense as well as a big pain. All that measuring............
Anyway, if you are interested in purchasing a piece from me, let me know. I am adding a button here in case anyone would like this particular piece above. I am selling these small ones (8" x 8")on canvas for $60. I stopped using my Etsy store. It wasn't working that well for me and it was costing me too much money to list things just to have them sit around for four months and expire.
On the blog it doesn't cost me anything to list it. If it sells it sells and if not, it goes on top of the piano, where I display my small pieces. Although I have to admit that there is less and less room on the piano!
Enjoy your weekend!
