New Pattern Friday

I am sorry I don't have anything more exciting for you today. But, you see, I am sick. I thought I had the flu but as it turns out I have pneumonia. I never would have imagined that I could get this sick. I always pride myself on my great diet, my swimming regimen, etc.

It is pretty disconcerting to find that you can be taken down so quickly no matter what you do or how hard you try and stay healthy or how many times a day you wash your hands.

This pattern above is something I did a few weeks ago when I found this web site called  mad patterns.

Try it out and you will certainly be amazed at the many permutations a pattern can take on!

New Pattern Friday-Week 3

This is a pattern I designed for my online class The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design. The brief was to design for a stationary company, a ring binder, diary, journal, envelope, stationary. sticky notes and a pencil case.

I am not much for inspirational quotes, especially the sappy ones you see everywhere. But this one strikes me where I live. A person could spend forever going through Louise Bourgeois' words and always be inspired. She just "gets it."

New Pattern Friday

I have decided to set myself a challenge for the new year. I hope I am not over estimating my capabilities but never-the-less, I am going to give it a try.

I am going to try and post a new pattern every Friday. The challenge will be to:

#1-  Make the pattern into at least 3 different color stories
#2- Use only the colors of the Pantone Spring 2015 color report

So that is the challenge I have set for myself. Here is the first pattern using the following Pantone colors: Dusk Blue, Custard, Classic Blue, Marsala, Treetop and Glacier Gray. I won't bother posting the numbers. You can download them on the Pantone web site along with the color report.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Going Digital

I experimented this week with digitizing some of my bird drawings. I think they came out rather well and I am enjoying using them in Adobe Illustrator.  I may have mentioned that I have been taking some wonderful free Illustrator classes with Laura Coyle here.  She is really a fantastic teacher and has helped me so much in taking Illustrator to new heights with my work. I cannot recommend her highly enough. If you like her site and use it a lot, as I do, you may want to make a donation as well so she can keep offering her knowledge for free.

In this day and age of online classes where people sometimes charge more than they have a right to, Laura is a breath of fresh air! She knows her stuff! Check out her web site if you want more info!
