"Unraveled" -acrylic on paper

This has been a hard week. My dad ended up in the ER due to a compression fracture in his spine. He is now in a rehab and we are not quite sure when he will be going back home.

I haven't been able to really delve into the class I am taking with Nancy Hillis what with everything that is going on but I did create this painting. I am calling it "Unraveled". Since that is how I am feeling lately. Unraveled.

Not sure where it is all going. Needless to say, I am not too happy right now and I miss the desert.

Sorry, that all sucks. Hope things improve soon on all fronts.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dad Roberta and I hope he makes a good recovery.
I love the painting . . . it would translate really well to textiles or encaustics. Aspects have me thinking!

I'm in the same place in my life as you are in yours. The failing health of our older generation family takes it's tole on us, as well as our own. I can see how you miss the desert. I often wish for a get away place. Sometimes just a day trip away from the house can help.
xx, Carol

Ah the consolation of art! To be able to step away even just for a moment and loose oneself on a page is very healing - Doesn't solve the situation, but recharges our batteries. A great motto for creatives: "If you can't fix it, paint it!!" Your artwork is quite stunning and revealing. The texture resembles worn leather patches in the process of unraveling (as title suggests), and here's the message - to be re-assembled into something new! Cause leather is tough!!
