Red Rising
I have to be honest. Sometimes I am intimidated by color. I don't know why. At those times I revert to black and white with maybe one little spot of color for contrast. Like red. I like red with black and white. It is easy and it always works. And sometimes I need easy.

In a few weeks I start a new online class with Jane Davies, which is about color. It is called
Beyond the Color Wheel: Advanced Color Studies. I am looking forward to it as I am hoping it might help me get over some of  my color "issues"!

That's it for today! Have a great week!

I'm with you Roberta . . . while I love colour but feel much more comfortable working with neutrals or monochrome and a bright addition such as this wonderful example. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with under Jane's influence . . . I love her work.

I wouldn't call it "easy". "Red Rising" is a beautiful piece and the reduced colour palette adds so much to all the awesome texture and depth! Colour intimidates me too at times - too busy, too much to keep an eye other times it feels as easy to work with as with a reduced palette. Guess it depends on our inner voice and the dialogue it wants to start. ;)

Beautiful piece! Love it!

I like black and white with a pop of red. Then I glance at your side bar and see aqua and black with a splash of red and I love THAT! I like the piece you are showcasing today a REAL lot.

Roberta, given the truly extraordinary work you produce with a fear of color, I say just embrace your fear! Because the results are gorgeous. Besides, in this piece you have so many subtle shades of black and white, with the red contrast elements beautifully and powerfully integrated. I'm no visual artist, but it looks like a lot of sophisticated color to me. So there. :)
