6/1/18

Well, I have some good news to share. My grandson will, in fact, be graduating with his class this coming Sunday. I am beyond happy. I had to run out, buy a cake and invite family for a small party. He pulled it off in the eleventh hour. Literally. Final grades were due at 3PM on Wednesday and at 2:50 he was handing in his last due assignment. Talk about skin of his teeth. He is a last minute person but this was ridiculous.

The past weeks I have been so sad and depressed. Not to mention that I could not bear to look at Facebook or any posts from proud parents and grandparents and their graduates. It was too painful.

I may post a photo or I may not. He has never liked it when I post his photo on my social media pages so I don't want to disturb the peace so to speak.

My heart feels for you with the roller coaster of your grandson's graduation story. My son did the same, constantly on the edge of flunking out of high school, finishing with a last minute makeup assignment the last day to qualify for graduation. My son turned 30 this year. He has never held a traditional job; works as a stage builder for music festivals when he feels like making money. His life is very unconventional, what I call off the grid. He just attended Burning Man in South Africa, where he built stages. He then spent a week traveling up the east coast of Africa with people he met at the festival. He meets the most extraordinary, creative people, and brings them into my life. I am a very risk-averse person and am constantly worrying about him, even though he told me in ninth grade that his life choices were his alone and he would live with the consequences. His life is rich and full, and sharing it vicariously with him enriches my life. Hang on, Roberta, you may have just begun the roller coaster ride!

Good Morning Roberta.
I'm so happy that your grandson did what he needed to do. And it's such a relief for you too that he has graduated. Hopefully you are more relaxed now and can make the coming move with piece of mind.
Much love, Carol

We live in Tucson for 6 months out of the year...it is such a wonderful life we have. I know your move is probably over by now. I looked to see where Risky Business was. I love that area. You have made a good choice. See you at the grocery in the fall! :)
