Catalinas With Feather
I recently found out that this piece has been accepted into a show in Silver City, New Mexico! It is currently at the framers getting all dolled up for its debut!

I am very excited as this is my third group show out here now and I am feeling much more confident. I think it is important to remember that in order to be considered for a group show here I need to apply to the right ones. By that I mean shows where my work is a good fit with the other pieces in the show. And so I have started really being thoughtful about which shows I enter. It seems to be working!

For this show I have to submit a bio, a resume and and artist statement. So today I have been busy putting all that together.

My husband and I have decided to take the opportunity to drive out there and stay for the weekend at at a lovely lodge. It will be our very first real road trip here. As you know most of our "road trips" have involved planes flying back east, so this will be something new for us. It is also my husbands birthday that weekend so it will be very special indeed! We are looking forward to the show and a trip to New Mexico. The last time I was in New Mexico was in the 1970's when we camped in a teepee in Taos!

The New Year

Mission with Grasses
I am still mono printing like a crazy person! I just love these small prints with a mix of hand made masks and real plants. I think they work really well together and give the work some depth.

Lately I have been doing a lot of walking. I think I never mentioned that I fell off my bike after getting dizzy from over exertion. I was very lucky that I did not break anything. But I had enough scrapes and bruises to let me know that my body was trying to tell me something. It isn't the first time I have gotten dizzy while riding but it is the first time I fell off.

I miss my bike terribly but I am finding that I enjoy walking. I never really walked much before so it is new to me to be walking 3-5 miles a day. I am enjoying taking in the surroundings in a new way. Riding is great fun but you do tend to whiz past everything. Walking really gets you to look and see things.

So I hung up my bike helmet......sigh.
